Whether you are printing for your home or office, it’s easier than you may think to quickly run through your printer ink. If you are printing many high-quality color documents, like presentations or brochures, you can almost guarantee that you’ll be replacing ink cartridges regularly, and even if you are printing simple black and white documents, you’re likely to use more ink that you think. Unfortunately, it is widely known that printer manufacturers often sell printers at a very low profit margin with the intention of recovering all of that lost profit when you are forced to purchase very expensive replacement ink cartridges. Luckily for you, there is an easy way to thwart their efforts.

Printer companies often use a wide variety of scare tactics to keep uninformed consumers purchasing their high-priced products. But, if you arm yourself with just a few simple facts, you’ll be well on your way to saving upwards of 70% on the cost of you replacement ink cartridges. Contrary to what these companies want you to think, there are plenty of other companies out there offering the same quality replacement inks as you get from the original manufacturer, but which charge significantly less.

There are two additional types of replacement ink that can work for nearly all printing needs. You can either purchase compatible cartridges, which are simply cartridges made by a third party company but manufactured to work with individual printer models, or remanufactured cartridges, which are original printer cartridges that are cleaned, tested, refilled with ink, and then sold back to consumers at big discounts. Printer companies also tend to try to bully consumers into purchasing with them by threatening that if ink cartridges from another company are used in the printer, it will void the warranty of the machine. This is a flat out lie. There are laws in place that make this sort of tactic completely illegal, so don’t be pushed around by this false claim.

When you use a reputable, long-standing company to purchase either compatible or remanufactured ink cartridges you can be confident that not only are you getting the same quality ink that you would be receiving from the original manufacturer, you are getting it at significant savings, which is bound to make anyone happy! While there are companies out there selling inferior products, if you do some simple research, talk with others that have purchased through your chosen company, and check online reviews, you can be confident that you will be getting a quality product. Be sure and check your desired retailer’s return and exchange policy so that in case something does happen, you won’t be jumping through hoops to exchange or replace the item.

By choosing to purchase compatible or remanufactured ink cartridges for your home or office printer you can find savings in the hundreds of dollar range, depending on your needs. If you carry these savings through the many times over the lifetime of your printer that you will need to replace ink, you are looking at extremely significant savings. Don’t be bullied into the high cost of original manufacturer inks; use your new knowledge to save yourself and your business up to 50% or more.
